Stephanie McMahon taking leave of absence from WWE

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, a former wrestler and daughter of the entertainment empire founders, announced Thursday she’s taking a leave of absence.

The announcement was made in a tweet on Thursday afternoon.

“As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE,”

She wrote, “WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.

The McMahon family and Stephanie herself have been a part of wrestling for decades, spawning such brands as Raw, NXT, and SmackDown.

The WWE’s pay-per-view events are still huge draws and the television shows are consistent ratings winners.

McMahon has worked at the WWE since she was a young girl, getting into the family business full-time after graduating college.

She began appearing on the air for the WWE (then known as the World Wrestling Federation) and was involved in several major storylines.

McMahon, who is the daughter of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, has been working for the company in various on and off-screen roles since she was a child.
