Simone Johnson, The Rock’s Daughter, Gets New WWE Ring Name

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's daughter, Simone Johnson, officially confirmed over the weekend that she had picked her WWE Superstar name, Ava Raine.

Simone Johnson signed with WWE in 2020 and finally announced her name. Many were disappointed it wasn’t a nod to her father.

Johnson also tweeted out a statement about the change and how it doesn’t discredit her family legacy.

A name doesn’t discredit any prior accomplishments from any family. Could build my entire career around my father & people would still bash me anyway,” Johnson tweeted.

Congrats to my #1 born, Simone Johnson on officially signing her wrestling contract with @wwe @wwenxt and on her way to becoming the first-ever 4th generation WWE athlete.

Simone, who will go by the name Ava Raine in the ring, is facing backlash from wrestling fans.

The 20-year-old is a fourth-generation wrestler. Her father was a 10-time WWE world champion before turning his focus to acting.

Her grandfather Rocky Johnson and great-grandfather Peter “High Chief” Maivia are WWE Hall of Famers.
