Born in New Delhi, Rakul did her schooling from Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan and after that she also earned a BSc (Hons) Mathematics degree from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. During her college itself, she started her career in the modeling industry.
In 2011, she participated in the beauty pageant “ Femina Miss India ”. She placed fifth in this pageant and also won five Pageant Titles “ People’s Choice Miss Indiatimes ”, “ Pantaloons Femina Miss Fresh Face ”, “ Femina Miss Talented ”, “ Femina Miss Beautiful Smile ” and “ Femina Miss Beautiful Eyes ”.
