NDA Exam Pattern 


The NDA (National Defence Academy) exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India. It is a two-tier examination that consists of a written examination and an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). Here is the general exam pattern for the NDA exam:

  1. Written Examination:
    • The written examination is divided into two papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT).
    • Both papers are conducted on the same day with a duration of 2.5 hours each.
    • The exam is conducted in offline (pen and paper) mode.
    a) Mathematics Paper:
    • This paper is designed to test the mathematical aptitude of candidates.
    • It consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
    • The total marks for this paper are 300.
    b) General Ability Test (GAT) Paper:
    • The GAT paper is further divided into two sections: English and General Knowledge.
    • The English section evaluates the candidate's English language skills.
    • The General Knowledge section assesses the candidate's general awareness, physics, chemistry, general science, history, geography, and current events.
    • Both sections are conducted in the form of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
    • The total marks for the GAT paper are 600.
  2. Interview (SSB):
    • Candidates who qualify in the written examination are called for the interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
    • The SSB interview consists of various stages such as Intelligence and Personality Test, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and Interview.
    • The interview process assesses the candidate's aptitude, physical fitness, and overall suitability for a career in the armed forces.
